Questions To Ask Before Committing To Dental Implants | Dentist Lady Lake

by | Dentist Lady Lake

dental implantsThe effects that dental implants can have on someone’s life are priceless. Regardless of if you’ve chipped a tooth on accident or your teeth never came in, a smile is one of the most common keys of confidence, and if you aren’t confident about your smile, it’s hard to feel good in general. With the strides in medicine and technology, we are able to provide people with dental implants that look, and work, just as well as a natural tooth would. Before you go committing to the procedure though, we suggest asking the following questions to the team member that you’ll be working with, so as to really gauge how this procedure will work for you specifically.

How many surgeries will it take to have the necessary teeth extracted and get the implants in?

This question will provide various answers depending on your case as well as how many implants you’re looking to get put in. Most procedures will require one appointment to remove the teeth and to install the implants. While this is the standard, your case may be different.

Do I have to be sedated?

Because we will be extracting your teeth, we will always find some means of sedation so that you’re comfortable during the procedure. There are a few different methods of sedation that could be used, but we will always recommend IV sedation or oral conscious sedation, depending on where your comfort levels are.

How long do implants last?

Since you’ll be working with our team that specializes in dental implants, you can expect them to last a lifetime. While there are many factors that go into the lifetime of an implant, most of it goes into the quality of the implant as well as how well they are put in, maintained and restored. More than 98 percent of people that get implants will have them for the rest of their life.

At Heritage Dental, a portion of our team specializes in dental implants, so we invest ourselves in your investment. While these are great questions to start your process to dental implants with, we know that they aren’t the only ones. If you have more questions regarding the process that you’ll be going through, or even if it’s a good option for you, don’t hesitate to ask.
